Kenway Design & Development Process

There are five stages to the Kenway Design and Development Process:

  1. Proposal: Define product requirements and other inputs to determine what outputs are required from customer.
  2. Design: Develop products using schematics, drawings, and 3D models.
  3. Prototype: Build a prototype to validate and verify that design requirements are met.
  4. Production Planning:  Create a plan to determine how the product will be manufactured to meet the customer’s requirements.
  5. Manufacturing: Implement and monitor the production plan with sales and engineering support.

 

1. Proposal

Our engineers work directly with the customer. They use tools such as the Kenway System Requirement Document (SRD) to establish customer requirements and goals. This document leads the design team to provide a solution that meets the customer’s needs in a timely manner.

2. Design

Kenway uses the latest technology to design and document its product:

  • 3D solid design
  • Simulation
  • Computer aided manufacturing
  • Product data management

3. Prototype

Our prototypes are built right on the production floor with engineering supervision. This allows inputs from our fabrication and manufacturing personnel to improve the product manufacturability and reduce costs.

4. Production Planning

Our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system allows us to plan our product months ahead to ensure that our purchased and fabricated items come together when needed. It also allows us to easily make adjustments to our customers’ changing demands.

5. Manufacturing

The final step of the Kenway Design and Development process allows us to make continuous product and process improvements that improve quality and reduce cost.  We perform in-process inspections to ensure your product requirements are met.
